In fulfillment of its commitment to boost industrialization and encourage entrepreneurship, the Presidency through the platform of “Aso Villa Demo Day” invited all Nigerians to pitch their innovative business ideas in three central and accessible cities, Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.
Nigerians turned out in their hundreds armed with promise and determined to pitch their ideas and eventually get the opportunity to pitch their ideas to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Finale.
In each city, we were confronted with the Nigerian spirit of resilience. We heard ideas and solutions for Technology, Agriculture, Communications, Power, Fashion and Entertainment. We were confronted with the fact that Nigerians are in fact a thinking people and it made it even more difficult to cut the ideas to the best thirty.
Selecting the best 30 start-ups was an arduous task but ideas that tackled some of Nigeria’s current issues were certainly top contenders. From Obi Brown’s – Study Lab idea which aims to solve thousands of problems in math, Further Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in a video format and make this video readily and easily accessible to consumers to One Medical created by Oladimeji Sofowora, Wole Ralph ,Laolu Ojeniyi which is a connected health records platform with a patient and doctor database. Emmanuel Okena’s Tracology, a patent smart payment app for waste management. An app that will track fine defaulters as bar codes will be scanned to confirm who has paid dues, levies and rates to Loui Auta of Ceders Seeds Foundation idea to build solar panels in strategic locations by disabled people.
Abubakar Gabar and Ahmed Gobir’s data capturing technology which uses radio frequency to Ife Oladapo’s Grit Systems that produce generators that would reduce power consumption to Tolu Adeyanju’s Red Bank idea which will help blood banks manage their records and connect them with donors, donnees, hospitals. Desmond Okoye’s Doctor’s NG, a platform that has been designed in such a way that users will have free access to doctors and also book an appointment from the comfort of their homes. Peter Agada’s C4ISR infrastructure that has been designed as a surveillance and communication device for our nation’s military or Angela Adelaja’s Fresh Direct, a platform for Nigerian farmers where they take their products to the larger public and also be trained to use technology to sell these farm produce These are some of the ideas/platforms that will be showcasing their products or ideas to President Muhammadu Buhari on the 1st of September, 2016 at the Aso Villa.
Before then, the selected 30 ideas will attend a boot camp to prepare them for the final presentation. In addition, the selected ideas will be attached to mentors.
President Muhammadu Buhari is following through on the promise to pay attention to you and your ideas. It is a revolution of proportions we have never witnessed in this country because by investing in ideas, Nigeria is investing in its future. We urge you to stay with us on the journey.
